Interruptible Rebate Program

Scholarship Program

The Interruptible Rebate Program was initiated in the year 2000 to implement a load reduction program for members who are willing to participate in load control during the months of June, July and August. The maximum hours of interruption per well for each season is 160 and any interruption would occur between the hours of 10 am and 12 Midnight Each day. Irrigation loads greater than 30 horsepower are eligible to participate in the next calendar year after signing an agreement. To join the program, for 2008, an agreement must be completed by May 1, 2008.

Wells in the program are equipped with a radio device that interrupts service in the event demand on North Plains and the other cooperatives that are served by Golden Spread Electric gets to be excessive. The irrigator is in turn compensated financially for offering his well into the program. The load management agreement provides a rebate of up to $15.60 per horsepower paid on an annual basis. Each summer season is different so the number of interruption hours can ultimately be as much as 160 total hours.

North Plains Electric would like all irrigators to consider this program. Our goal is to furnish reliable electric service at an economically reasonable price and the Interruptible Rebate Program can be a cost saving option for those that can alter their irrigation schedule using interruptible energy.
